Oreo Days

In reviewing our last few posts it seems that all we do is eat. We actually DO use the food for educational purposes. Although all students did get to enjoy one Oreo cookie today. Today was the first day of our Weekly Oreo activities. We focused on several math concepts today, such as, prediction, tally charts, subtraction, addition & a little multiplication was throw in as well. The following pictures will show students making predictions of how many Oreos they can stack, while their partner fills in a tally chart.

Valentine's Day Party

Here are a few pictures from our Valentine party. The kids played lots of games, opened their Valentine cards and ate plenty of food! Below is a picture of Anna with her mom.

He is wearing his Valentine necklace we made in class. He's lucky he didn't use a chocolate heart in his necklace. The chocolate hearts didn't last very long once the kids put them on. Their body heat is all the chocolate needed to start melting. Lesson learned.

Limo Ride

Faith and Jordan won a limo ride to lunch and a cruise around town. They were top sellers in the school fundraiser. "It was the best day of my life!" Jordan.
Faith said she felt like a superstar riding around town in a limo.

100's Day

Kids always enjoy celebrating 100's day. We celebrated by counting our snacks. The kids experimented on different ways to count their snack. Some started by counting by 1's and soon realized that wasn't the best way to count all their food items. Most kids finally organized their food into groups of 5's and 10's.

David organized his food in groups of tens.

Mrs. Wells came in to help us count our snacks.

Inauguration Day

What were you doing on Inauguration Day? This is a historic day in America's history and here is a glimpse of our day. We spent some time reading about Barack Obamoa and learning about his life. We also watched the events unfold on tv.

Warren Towers

The class took a field trip to Warren Towers to sing to the residents. Here are some of the kids waiting in the entrance waiting for the elevator. We would have walked, by we were supposed to sing on the 13th floor. We squeezed our entire class plus some 4th graders into our elevator.

Here we are crammed in the elevator. You would have thought this was their first time in an elevator!
