Bake Sale

Second grade had a lot of practice counting back change this week. They did a fantastic job selling all the baked items. Our 4th grade reading buddies helped oversee our money exchange. Thank you everyone for sending treats to sell at the bake sale. The money is going to the bank today & hopefully we'll have enough to cover our field trip to the Botanical Center in May.

The Hunt

I would like to thank everyone for donating candy for the kids' baskets. The had fun hunting for their basket.

That's How The Cookie Rolls

It's the rolling of the Oreo! (I bet you didn't think you could do so many things with an Oreo?) The students made predictions of how far they could roll an Oreo. After 2 attempts we added an incline plane.

The kids were excited to see how much farther their Oreos rolled using an incline plane.

Sink or Float

Will the Oreo float or sink? The students wrote their question, made a prediction, made a plan of action & conducted the experiment. Then they recorded their conclusion.

Get Fit Day

We used our water bottles to lift weights on GET FIT DAY. We needed to build up our muscles before we lifted our Oreos into our mouths. Tomorrow we will conducting an Oreo float or sink experiment.

Oreo Days

In reviewing our last few posts it seems that all we do is eat. We actually DO use the food for educational purposes. Although all students did get to enjoy one Oreo cookie today. Today was the first day of our Weekly Oreo activities. We focused on several math concepts today, such as, prediction, tally charts, subtraction, addition & a little multiplication was throw in as well. The following pictures will show students making predictions of how many Oreos they can stack, while their partner fills in a tally chart.
